‘Obrońca’ – Art installation at the Imperial Shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland. It was a privilege to collect materials from this historical place. This monumental site is renowned around the world as the main stage for the historic events that shaped Eastern Europe. Solidarity (Solidarność) was born here and the unified efforts of many people have made Poland and Europe what they are today. ‘Obrońca’ means ‘guardian’ in Polish, a guardian of the past and the future. The materials from the past embody the scars we carry. These scars define a person or an object and are the foundation of the future.
